Day 23 of 365 Things to do in Burlington – The Stone House Restaurant

Fabulous Father’s Day at the Stone House Restaurant.

Our family decided to finally try the Sunday Steak and Seafood Buffet at the Stone House restaurant in Burlington. My intension was to write this blog on father’s day…but I was too full to type on my keyboard!

Before we decided on choosing the Stone House, I did some research and found numerous mixed reviews on the sunday buffet. As most of us are seafood fans, we decided we would give it a try.

For the most part, we had a wonderful experience and we enjoyed the food selections. The peel and eat shrimp station and oyster bar was a wonderful way to start the meal. Second course went to the mussels. The East Coaster in the group noted that they were a little small and the broth lacked full flavour, but we had to remind ourselves that we were at a buffet. In that context, they were more than enjoyable. We were a bit disappointed when the waiter informed us that the lobster was not part of the buffet and that we were limited to 1 lobster (1lb) per person. The photo in the advertisement showed a platter of lobster halves which led us to believe that we would be able to eat more lobster than what was allowed.

The Prime Rib melted in your mouth and the buffet offered a wide range of sides. The dessert bar was great for the kids as it offered plenty of options. There wasn’t any ice cream at the buffet, but when asked, a server went into the kitchen and brought out a cup of vanilla for my 2.5 year old.

At $35 per person it is good value for those looking for a seafood and meat dinner. If people in your party are not seafood lovers or vegetarian, they maybe left wanting more as there were not a lot of options. As a seafood lover, I had a great experience with my father at the Stone House on father’s day.
