P.A. Day Activities

Looking for something to do with the kids? Here are a few ideas for some indoor and outdoor fun. Have a happy and safe P.A. Day!!

1. SKATING
Appleby Ice Centre
1201 Appleby Line, Burlington
Sticks and Pucks – Ages 3 – 8
11:30 am – 1:00 pm
For children under 8 years of age and caregivers to practice their stick handling skills. Organized hockey, slap shots and speed skating are not permitted. Goalies are welcome to come and practice and play for free. All participants, including caregivers attending Sticks and Puck must wear a CSA approved helmet.
Public Skate
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm 
Everyone is welcome! This skate is a great way to socialize and skate with friends and family. 

Mountainside Community Centre
2205 Mount Forest Drive, Burlington 
Sticks and Pucks – Ages 9 – 18
3:30 pm – 5:00 pm 
An opportunity for youth and teens aged 9-18 to practice their stick handling skills. Organized hockey, slap shots and speed skating are not permitted. Goalies are welcome to come and practice for free. Al participants must wear a CSA approved helmet.

2. SWIMMING
Tansley Woods Community Centre
1996 Itabashi Way, Burlington
Combo Swim
10:00 am – 11:00 am
An opportunity for everyone to enjoy the many benefits of swimming. Lap Swim, (1 or 2 lanes available), Water Running and Fun Swim. All ages and abilities welcome. Waterslide and diving board are not available during a combo swim.
Leisure Swim
10:00 am – 3:00 pm
This is a great way for all ages to spend time together in the leisure pool at Tansley Woods.
Fun Swim
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Ride the water slide at Tansley Woods pool. Everyone is welcome!

Aldershot Pool
50 Fairwood Place W, Burlington
Combo Swim
10:00 am – 11:00 am
An opportunity for everyone to enjoy the many benefits of swimming. Lap Swim, (1 or 2 lanes available), Water Running and Fun Swim. All ages and abilities welcome. Waterslide and diving board are not available during a combo swim.

Angela Coughlan Pool

Leisure Swim
11:00 am – 12:30 pm
This is a great way for all ages to spend time together in the leisure pool.

3. PA DAY DROP-IN GYM
Brant Hills Community Centre
2255 Brant Street, Burlington
Ages 8 – 14
12:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Offered on PA Days for youth. Come to open gym and shoot some hoops and get active!

4. TOBOGGANING
LaSalle Park
Location: 50 North Shore Boulevard, Burlington
– East of the parking lot
A small hill great for a quick bit of outdoor play for toddlers and preschoolers.

Tyandaga Golf Course
Location: 1265 Tyandaga Park Dr, Burlington
– Hole No. 4, on west slope

Central Park
Location: 2299 New Street, Burlington
– The hill northwest of Community Garden

Brant Hills Park
Location: 2300 Duncaster Dr, Burlington
– Southwest of tennis courts

Nelson Park
Location: 4183 New St, Burlington
– East side of park, north of Centennial Bike Path

Lowville Park
Location: 6207 Guelph Line, Burlington
– The hill on southwest end of park.
A wide hill with a variety of slopes ranging from easy-going to steep.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park
Location: 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville
This huge hill has two sides and is perfect for all ages. Weather permitting, bring your skates for a lap or two around the outdoor skating rink.  Purchase of a day pass is required to access the hill.

5. ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS
680 Plains Road West, Burlington
Spiders Alive!
In Spiders Alive!, visitors can explore spider anatomy and evolutionary history, learn about their signature traits — venom and silk-making — and be surprised by little-known defense mechanisms such as mimicry and noise-making. In addition to live arachnids representing approximately 17 species, the exhibition includes larger-than-life models of spiders, a climbable spider model 50 times life size, and a rare 100-million-year-old fossil of a spider in limestone.
