Hilton Falls

Winter at Hilton Falls: Believe it or not, Hilton Falls is as beautiful in Winter as it is in the growing seasons. The rivers, waterfall, and the reservoir freeze over and sparkle in the clear winter sun. Bring your camera to catch the play of the sunlight on the icicles and snow.

The trails this time of year are perfect for winter hiking: bring bird seed to feed the chickadees at the falls. Chickadees are specially adapted for winter weather and they’re very friendly! If you’d like more of a workout, a few of the trails are groomed for cross country skiing. You can rent the skis at the Visitor Centre.

Robert Edmondson Conservation Area

Robert Edmondson is the best kept secret of Halton Parks. The trail is perfect for a quiet, peaceful nature walk through the forest and wetlands. You’ll feel like you have the park all to yourself.
Winter at Robert Edmondson: The winter is beautiful in Robert Edmondson Conservation Area. The water freezes over, and the snow coats the tree branches. Shutterbugs, fire up your cameras for sparkling winter pictures in the snow. Hike around the reservoir for a quiet, peaceful winter walk in nature.

Rattlesnake Point

A lush tree canopy, bold-faced cliffs, hidden caves, 264 hectares of protected space, and glacial deposits make Rattlesnake Point one of the most beautiful spots in Ontario.
Winter at Rattlesnake Point: There’s so much to do during the winter at Rattlesnake Point. Give winter camping a try with your family and friends. Keep warm and keep fit by hiking on the trails. The Vista Adventure trail is a short jaunt and easily accomplished in under an hour; and, if you want to go a little further, take the Buffalo Crag trail, and see the escarpment glitter in the winter sun at the lookout points.

You’ll see the thousand year old cedars, and the uncommon Hackberry tree, and even winter adapted creatures like Chickadees. Many species of owls are adapted for the winter, and you’ll maybe see them on your nature walk.

Crawford Lake Conservation Area

A rare meromictic lake, a 15th century reconstructed Iroquoian village, and over 19 km of trails to explore: Crawford Lake is an outdoors experience steeped in science, history, and natural beauty.
Winter at Crawford Lake: When snow is on the ground at Crawford Lake, a quiet hush comes over park. The snow sparkles on the Hide and Seek trail. The wooden sculptures on the Hide and Seek Trail stand out against a snowy backdrop. Enjoy Moonlight Guided Snowshoe Hikes. If you’re after brisk exercise, try cross-country skiing on the Pine Ridge Trail. You’ll trek through frosted pine tree plantations while you make your own path down the trail. Warm up at the Visitors Centre!

Mount Nemo is a favourite among hikers in Halton Parks. Away from the crowds and the hustle bustle of the city, Mount Nemo is a peaceful sanctuary for nature walks. Pack a lunch and watch the Turkey Vultures float on the thermals while you take in the panoramic view of the escarpment. On a clear day you can see the CN Tower in Toronto!
Winter at Mount Nemo: Shutterbugs bring your cameras and your iphones! Mount Nemo is beautiful when the snow covers the tree branches and the trails. Take your dog for a walk on the trails and enjoy a peaceful, tranquil walk in the snow.
