The Lighting of the Christmas Tree of Hope

Friday, December 6 | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Join us as we light up the downtown with the Christmas Tree of Hope and festive lighting in Gore Park at 6:30 pm. The Christmas Tree of Hope Lighting and Concert launches Christmas activities throughout Hamilton.

Cash donations and unwrapped toys for the CHML/Y108/Energy 95.3 Radio Children’s Fund can be dropped off on December 6 between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Enjoy live music by Big Rude Jake, Santa Selfies and free maple taffy. Get the best view of the city on a free Gore Park Ferris Wheel ride which will operate through December 23 from 12 noon until 8:00 pm.

During your Gore Park visit make sure to explore the open-air Christmas Market that will be on Friday, December 6 from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Saturday, December 7 from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm and Sunday, December 8 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. In partnership with Redchurch Café and Toast Wine Bar, this market featuring local vendors is a great opportunity to do some holiday browsing and shopping while grabbing a festive drink or snack.

Thousands of festive lights lead you through a winter wonderland of charming Christmas melodies, festive sips and bites and the Escarpment Train Exhibit

Enjoy a leisurely winter stroll through the historic Rock Garden at night. Walkthrough a winter wonderland with 100,000 mini lights, 200 theatrical LED fixtures, 3000’ of hanging string lights and NEW light sculpture, “Arctic Fox” by local artist Tanis MacArthur.

Your Winter Lights at the Rock experience includes access to the Escarpment Train Exhibit!

RBG’s newest “G scale” model train experience takes you on a journey through four seasons of whimsical Canadian landscapes while telling the story of how railroads shaped our history. The Escarpment Train Exhibit illustrates three eras of locomotion history including the steam engines of the late 1800s, the streamliners of the 1930s and the powerful modern diesel of the 1960s up to the present day. Find this exhibit in the Stipe Garden House, in the lower level of the garden.

Stoney Creek Santa Claus Parade

Grimsby Santa Claus Parade

The Grimsby Santa Claus Parade is one of the longest-running events in Grimsby. The parade was once a morning event, but in the year 2000, the parade was moved to an evening event to celebrate the millennium. It was such a success that it has remained an evening event ever since. Each year the parade consists of approximately 90 entries which include community floats, walking groups, marching bands and various entertainment. The Grimsby Santa Claus Parade is the perfect kickoff to your holiday celebrations — don’t miss it.

Parade Route: Eastbound along Livingston Avenue/Main Street West starting at Blessed Trinity Secondary School and ending at the Ontario Street intersection.
